Aesthetix Romulus vs Lampizator?

Anyone out there have experience comparing Aesthetix Romulus and Lampizator?

I have been using a Romulus (Eclipse without volume control) for about 5yrs now and have been very happy with it! I periodically find myself thinking about trying another DAC and find myself looking at the mid-level Lampizators.

The only other DAC I have compared directly to my Romulus, was a Denafrips Terminator. I found it to be analytical and dry compared to the Romulus.

Anyway, I don't want to buy a Lampizator only to find out it is at the same level or below what I am currently using. It seems like it should be fair comparison Romulus vs Lampizator since they are both tube based DACs.

If anybody has tried both, I would love to know your thoughts on the topic.

Thanks and happy listening!

While I’ve no direct experience with the Romulus Eclipse my guess from looking at its specs would be that you’ll need to plan on starting with the Atlantic 3 TRP in order to see largely noticeable sonic gains.

I have been using an Aqua La Scala Optologic MKII for the past few years and although I was very happy with its performance I found myself intrigued by the Lampizator- especially when it came to the ability to contour the presentation via tube rolling.

I would say the largest consideration to keep in mind prior to purchasing one is that achieving the highest level of performance and matching within your system may require purchasing and trying many tubes and given today’s prices (and in some cases availability) please be aware of this reality.
I’m more than happy to share my experience with the product so far- you can send a direct message anytime.

I have not tried any other models in my setup other than the one that I own but had heard demo’s of the Baltic 4 (model below) and the Pacific (model above). The model I have is the latest Golden Atlantic TRP3- balanced with engine 11.
