Activating Kef LS50s

I recently acquired the Kef X300A completely out of curiosity online and I am completely wowed by the quality of the midrange. I think it even edges out my ATC active 20s in a high-end setup.
Has anyone here listened to both the LS50 and the X300As? I wonder how does the LS50 compares to the X300As. If it is way ahead of the USB speakers, I might consider getting several pairs of the LS50s and do a DIY active on them with the help of an experienced technician of course.
