Accuphase DP78 vs...?

Anyone auditioned this top cd player? What's your opinion about it, compared to the stuff you know.

I was not very impressed with the performance of the DP-78 in the setup I heard it in, however system synergy and personnal taste is always the final bottom line regarding any piece of gear.
