Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD

Hi All.

Putting together a reference level system.
My Source is predominantly standard 16/44 played from a MacMini using iTunes and Amarra. Some of my music is purchased from iTunes and the rest is ripped from standard CD's.
For my tastes in music, my high def catalogues are still limited; so Redbook 16/44 will be my primary source for quite some time.

I'm not spending DCS or MSB money. But $15-20k retail is not out of the question.

Upsampling vs non-upsampling?
USB input vs SPDIF?

All opinions welcome.

And I know I need to hear them, but getting these ultra $$$ DAC's into your house for an audition ain't easy.

Looking for musical, emotional, engaging, accurate , with great dimension. Not looking for analytical and sterile.

Mattnshilp...sorry to hear you are not bringing in the Accustic Arts Dac. I have heard great things about it and was thinking about either getting that one or the Luxman. I own the Luxman cdp which I use as a DAC but it has some limitations in terms of high res capability and only has SPDIF input, no USB.
Matt, the RealTraps website also has great general info on where to place treatments. They are also very good to work with.
Matt, off topic for sure but what acoustic panels are you borrowing? I just added some Vicoustic Cinema Round panels for my 1st reflection points and I am amazed at the improvement in bass, clarity, and soundstaging. Ive got some RealTraps Mondo Bass Traps coming next week as well. I am excited to hear the changes.
Matt, I just looked up the Apertures and are they really $695 per panel??! Maybe I don't understand what they do but why are they so expensive? Are they just absorption panels?
Based on my experience I have to agree with Steve about treating 1st reflection points. I am simply amazed at the improvement in sound I am getting. I should have done this a looooong time ago!
Matt, any thoughts on those Apertures??? At those prices I am very intrigued!
Understood Matt. I just my panels on cardboard boxes for now. At the rate I go, they will probably stay on the boxes forever and be properly mounted. Its all about the music right??? :)
Matt, any additional feedback on those Stillpoints Apertures acoustic panels? I recently installed some RealTraps Mondo Bass Traps and have been floored by the improvement in sound!
