845 Tube Sockets.....Bayonet vs plug in types?

So this question goes out to all you DIY amp designers and builders.

845 tube sockets.... Bayonet vs plug in types. Why one or the other? My Cary 211 amps use the bayonet type and I have read that they can bend out of shape and/or have poor contact issues. Why not just use plug in type sockets like those used with 300b's and the like?

See below for the two examples I'm speaking of. Bayonet vs Plug in type.

I prefer the good old Bayonet socket. It is much for robust and secure. I used them in my 845 single-ended power amp.

With recent Amp' Build a lot of thought went into the types of Valve Socket to b used.

At the time of my 845's being built, the Sockets as Bayonet Types were just another item on the BOM.

With what I know today, I would be looking at Valve Sockets that are best for the signal path and not limited to connection method only.
