I have I have a pair of Martin Logan Montis speakers which were the one step down from the big boy summits in the last generation. These are amazing speakers.
Right now I’m powering them with a custom upgraded class-a biases Odyssey Audio Khartago stereo amp (150w x2) which makes them really shine.
The problem is this system is getting a lot more use as part of our whole house Sonos setup, which means we end up leave the amp on which generates heat and wastes electricity, especially since the amp is tucked away (and not very reachable) for a clean living room space.
I want to use the new Sonos “Port” which replaces the connect and finally provides a 12v trigger. But the odyssey doesn’t provide a trigger in.
So I’m looking for a great 2 channel or pair of mono amps of similar quality and sound of the odyssey but with a trigger.
I’ve got a lot of options and want to narrow it down for final at-home tests (many have to be shopped so am trying to avoid lots of shipping fees).
- NuPrime ST-10*
- Benchmark AHB2
- Used Mcintosh MC152
- Parasound A21
- Rotel RB-1582
- Elac Alchemy DPA-1M’s*
- Maybe a Naim 100 or 250 and leave it on??
* I have found in the past that class D amps make the ML’s sound flat and rolled off in the treble. I’m entertaining these options because they supposedly support low impedance loads and shouldn’t roll off the top frequencies due to their designs.
