Speakers that image best from corners 12' apart
Check out Orb Audio. I think something like the Classic One or Classic Two set-up would make the best of your not so ideal situation. The Orb's have fantastic dispersion and are easy to place. Good luck! WPM
Songs that Inspire or Move you
Hey Jackmonster,Great topic. I have so many, for so many different reasons. Here are but a few, in no particular order:Bobby Goldsboro - Summer The First TimeLed Zeppelin - Stairway To HeavenGeorge Michael - Praying For Time (Unplugged Version)The...
Funk Essentials - Under The Radar
Anything by The Brothers Johnson. In particular, "Get The Funk out My Face," "Strawberry Letter 23," and "I'll Be Good To You."
Silverline Minuet "Supreme"
Although I have never heard the Minuets, at their price point, they clearly appear to be candidates for "best buy" status. A good friend of mine, Texas42 (you can chime in anytime, Dave), is better qualified to speak on behalf of the Silverline's,...
Best monitors paired with Rogue Cronus?
The Cronus is a great amp, and will make any number of good loudspeakers sing. With that said, a friend has a Cronus and is enjoying a successful paring with the Quad 12L-2 monitors.
Which speakers have the biggest soundstage
Ditto on the Harbeth's. For me, the HL-P3 series, old or new. On the vintage front, especially if you are going to use tubes, the Spica TC-50 is a favorite, and throws a huge soundstage.
Klipschorn Imaging
Actually, the Cornwall was introduced in 1959 as a center channel for the Klipschorn; but, of course, gained rapid popularity as a stereo pair of loudspeakers on its own.
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
Many speakers have come and gone in my listening space, but the one true constant has been my Infinity Kappa 9's. No other speaker I have tried, so far, has been able to recreate the sheer dynamics, scale, and believability of the Kappa's.I think ...
Best JBL's you have heard
Nothing wrong with vintage. Most vintage speakers were built better than many of those today. Good design and craftsmanship will stand the test of time. The best JBL's I have ever heard were the XPL-200's. Talk about dynamics. Wow! I am still looki...
Magnepan 1.7
I feel compelled to chime in as, I too, have to agree with Texas42 and Demosis. For the record, I have been a Magnepan user for over 20-years, having owned models from MMG to MG-IIIA, to include a pair of 1.6's which I based my comparison of the 1...
Audio Dropping Out on Rega Apollo and Saturn
At the suggestion of Fillmoor above, I will definitely post any problems that (hopefully do not) occur with my Saturn. I totally agree with his comment that no player costing $2.5K should exhibit even the slightest problem. So, I will be keeping m...
Audio Dropping Out on Rega Apollo and Saturn
I am a recent owner of a Rega Saturn and have experienced only one of the problems mentioned. However, I was able to correct the problem very quickly. Let me explain:If your home, like ours, is filled with numerous IR and WI-FI signals, resulting ...
Review: Jolida JD-1701 Tube amp
Rustyo,I just installed a NOS pair of Tungsrams 12AX7s in the 1701. Very nice tubes: Detailed and transparent, yet still retain the warmth that the JANs gave it. I think they deepened my soundstage a bit, too.William
Review: Jolida JD-1701 Tube amp
The 1701a does not come standard with pre-outs, however, it is a factory option, I think for about $80.00, but check with your local Jolida dealer to be sure.William
Review: Jolida JD-1701 Tube amp
Hi,You are correct, the 1701a is one of Jolida's "hybrid" integrated amps. The 1701 has been an absolute pleasure to listen too and use. The bass it gives my MG-1s is simply amazing, and all with just its 50 watts per channel. I have never heard t...
