ARC ref 110 tube bias prob
The ARC resistors are out of stock in Europe and UK (62 weeks before they’re going to be available!) so I’ve used an equivalent temporary resistor from another manufacturer. And bingo, it’s fixed the weird bias readings I had. Minor difficulty - ...
ARC ref 110 tube bias prob
Think I’ve found the problem! All the brown resistors adjacent to the bias testing points were showing c. 1.3-1.5 ohms but the one adjacent to the bias for the tube that gave crazy readings was showing nothing. No continuity, so assume it’s blown...
ARC ref 110 tube bias prob
Thanks all. I called ARC yesterday and they are due to come back to me later. They asked me to check if the resistors nearest the last tubes looked burned out but they look fine. With the new tubes in the ref 3 and this 110 it sounds fantastic - c...
Re-tubing my Audio Research Ref 110
Problem with retubing on ARC Ref 110! New matched tubes installed and starting biasing (after waiting 15 mins with amp on, speakers connected but no source selected. First tube set at 65mv, slaved unit measured 66 second tube set, first at 65mv...
Re-tubing my Audio Research Ref 3
Thanks Mulveling!
Re-tubing my Audio Research Ref 110
Great!  Many thanks
Re-tubing my Audio Research Ref 110
Thanks all. And when connecting the multimeter Does it matter which lead goes to which point (yellow & black points on the ARC)?
Audio Research - should I replace the valves?
I can easily get the AR amps to Absolute Sounds, the importer in the Uk who will replace the valves but I’m told it takes a while and is expensive (anyone any experience of this?). Or I buy and replace/bias myself. But exactly what do I buy/for th...
Audio Research - should I replace the valves?
Thanks, I do have a Fluke. I’m going to use KT120 valves in my 110. Is it the same settings? I looked at the manual and it says you should use 120v AC to adjust the bias. Obviously in the UK we have 240v AC or am I being dim?
Audio Research - should I replace the valves?
Thanks all. Not sure whether biasing the valves is beyond my skills but will have a read. Stupid question but assume you fit them and then do the bias? (Told you I might not be up to the job!)
Audio Research - should I replace the valves?
Thanks! I didn't realise they deteriorate - i thought the just blew! Presumably I can't put them in myself as they need biasing (whatever that is!)?
