Anti-skate adjustment off Thorens TD 146 with Schopper wand
Finally, all issues resolved.  The setup passed all the test records (HiFI News, CBS, Shure, old Realistic test lp) with flying colors.  Only added minimal anti-skate.  Even flawlessly tracked cannons on Telarc 1812. Very pleased with performance ...

Another senior moment.  My tonearm lift must not be level.  The tonearm sticks on the lift at the end of record so stops before triggering the auto shut-off. Thanks for tolerating lame questions.

I did not lower the pivot.  I changed back to thinner, original platter mat to get cartridge level.  Senior moment. Now, the auto shut-off is not consistently working.  Before I switched cartridges, I had only a couple of records that did not tri...

Simple adjustment of cuing arm.  Allen screw and dripped arm just a few mm.  Not sure why it was out of adjustment.  Hopefully test records will verify adjustment of new cart.  Thanks again.

Luxman SQ-30u noise
I put the old tubes back with no change. Another observation. I hear the noise in the headphones (one channel only)) even when nothing is hooked to the amp. It does not matter what settings I have on the amp.
phono hum
OK. I turned the TT 90 degrees and the hum is mostly gone, except at high volume, well above listening level. At rest the cart is about 13 inches from side of amp. At end of play it is about 9-10 inches from amp. Until I find a better location for...

More info. Turns out the noise is in one channel only. The noise sounds similar to noise you get between songs on a less than mint vinyl Lp.
What is my weak link?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I will basically change nothing. I may experiment with cartridges. Lots of knowledgable folks on this site. Keep it up.
