Do any of your Rolling Stones recordings bring "Satisfaction"?
Yet another vote for "Get yer Ya Ya's Out"....far and away the best recording I have in my RS collection and think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it was a live recording. I always thought the digital RS albums were poor and found that ...

+1 ... Analog Magik took the guesswork out of the equation...
Questions about VPI Turntables and rotational speed
Is the app called RPM? If so, it is garbage in terms of precision and accuracy. It’s self calibrating mode simply does not work well and can see where you get readings all over the place. Try manually timing 100 revolutions with a stop watch, you ...
Stillpoints under a turntable?
@slaw @stringreen Based on the discussion thus far concerning Stillpoints and please correct me if I am wrong, I get the impression that the idea behind them is to dissipate vibration from the TT to the stand and is why you maintain that rubber be...
Stillpoints under a turntable?
Thanks Steve, Yes the cabinet is a bit of a sore spot. Originally had it custom built 8 years ago when we moved into this house to hide all of the wires and boxes...a requirement of my better half. Not a big deal back then because I had not yet re...
Stillpoints under a turntable?
@slaw Good to see you are active here....!VPI has a reputation for many iterations of pieces and parts and have to say, I am not sure what feet your tables came with. My TNT came with "upgraded" elephant feet. I believe they are the newer version ...
Stillpoints under a turntable?
Slaw, what were your observations with the addition of the Stillpoints?
VPI TNT Mk 3 – Looking for a tonearm and cartridge
I went to a fabric store and purchased some #6 silk bead thread for $3.50. Fairly thick compared to the surgical thread I first tried so TT speed is now up to 33.1 RPM...
VPI TNT Mk 3 – Looking for a tonearm and cartridge
Interesting.... what type of back end are you running tube or SS? And what is the weight of your lead lined acrylic platter? Platter thickness?I agree on the bearing...I am not sure I have been convinced that the inverted is a better set up, Some ...
VPI TNT Mk 3 – Looking for a tonearm and cartridge
Melm, VPI TT of the era could be outfitted with speed controllers, I just don’t happen to have one....... yet. Shame me enough and I will probably relent ;) . From what info I have been able to gather up, the Mk IV platter was an upgrade option fo...
VPI TNT Mk 3 – Looking for a tonearm and cartridge
Yes the Graham Phantom was a huge improvement over the JMW 10 Memorial that was originally installed on my TNT. I moved a ZYX Universe II from the JMW to the Graham so the improvement was all tonearm. Mine also had the 100% acrylic "Black Knight" ...
Phono stage hum
I too have a Thorens TD 160 (Mk I) that is now out of service but at one time was suffering from a hum problem. Somewhere I found instructions for a cure which involved altering the grounding scheme on the rudimentary power strip inside the plinth...
Koetsu -- Do all longbodies have platinum/alnico magnets?
Perhaps you mean platinum cobalt magnets instead of platinum AlNiCo. Back in the late 50's - 60's the Pt Co magnets would have had the highest energy product and coercivity of any magnet of the time, besting the more pedestrian aluminum nickel cob...
VPI TNT Mk 3 – Looking for a tonearm and cartridge
Make your own armboard...I did. Use the old acrylic one as a template.Brockhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/9stf8ed9h9bgwk9/VPI%20Stage%202.jpg?dl=0
Cartridge alignment question/problem
Yes thank you all for the information and link. It all makes sense to me and now that I know, I won't fret any longer about it....Brock
