1st Album you Ever Owned?
Zeppelin 1 was the first full album, I can't remember the 45's, once I heard a proper LP, 7" 45's were no longer in my musical lexicon.. That's been 45 + years ago now. An eternity, but seems like yesterday and the music still sounds great to me.
Amp repair cost — is this right?
This is why I am very selective in the work I take in, and who I will perform work for. I initially got into doing audio repair as a way to save $$, keep my gear going, maybe pick up nice vintage gear that works otherwise but needs some level of o...

I seriously doubt you are going to find anything affordable on the market which will allow you archive your LP’s and sound as they do on your VPI rig. About the best sounding alternative for eliminating the need of playing the actual LP which soun...
What was your first big eye opener with regard to audio?
The game changer for me was hearing a properly installed pair of Mc’s XRT 20 line arrays back in the 80s Compared to point source speakers the sound literally blew me away. No vertical limit to soundstage or critical sweet spot, the entire row IS ...

Musicians in your living room vs. you in the recording hall?
Easy answer,.. BOTH! And why not? We'll honestly for the masses it may or may not be practical or financially viable or both. Some lack the right room dimensions, others the right speakers or the money to fill the room with the right speakers or g...
Old vs. new
Lp's are hit or miss, it's the same today as it was 40 years ago. Variables include the recording engineer, mastering and pressing plant among others including the thickness and material makeup of the vinyl itself. Pressings with an ear to quality...
Technics 1200G - clamp record weight or no record weight?
I recommend the Technics 1200/1210 extra thick mat sold by KAB USA. It sounds the best on the previous generation Techie 1200 /1210 up to the Mk7 model. I personally own a M5G and use the extra thick OEM mat and a 3/4 pound (approx 360 gram) pound...
