Holo Audio May DAC
I got my May KTE two weeks ago today, upgraded from a Denafrips Venus II.  Almost 200 hours in and magic is starting to happen.  Its very interesting how break in makes such a difference from new out of the box to now.  It has started to really fl...
best preamp for ayre mxr
I am very happy with the ARC Ref-3 matched with the MX-R. They did not introduce the KX-R until after I purchased. The combination is remarkably neutral and accurate.....Steve
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
I am running Ayre MX-R monos. I have heard the same setup as mine at my dealer, but using the ARC Ref-210s and also dead quiet.....Steve
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
To me, at this price point, better is at best subjective. Both units are very well designed and executed. I expect the goal of the manufacturers is to be as accurate as possible. Just two different designs to achieve the same goalm, since both are...
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
My Ref-3 is dead quiet, don't have any noise issues with any of my ARC components including a ph-7 and ref cd7.....Steve
McIntosh C1000 tube pre vs. ARC Ref 3?
Without having been at the concert or recording session for comparison. I look for how natural instruments and vocals sound compared to my experience to live music. Most folks have a good feeling for what things sound like in real life. There is no...
McIntosh C1000 tube pre vs. ARC Ref 3?
Straight wire with gain is the ideal. I would expect that is the design goal for high-end design as opposed to creating a device that has a purposely built in sonic signature/style. Again if you like MAC, buy it. Since the debate for you personall...
McIntosh C1000 tube pre vs. ARC Ref 3?
Just to keep this thread in perspective, the Mac cost almost double or triple (depending on options) the REF-3. I would hope for the extra spend that the MAC is better. To me, the Mac is a bit gimmicky. In that they offer both a tube and SS option...
Feedback on new Ayre MX-R Monoblocks
I just want to add that I am also a very happy MX-R owner. I auditioned McIntosh 501, ARC Ref-210 and Ayre MX-R and on my ML Summits the Ayre was a keeper. All these amps are excellent. Just a matter of system matching and individual taste......Ha...
Ayre Monoblocks vs. Linn Klimax Solo 500s
I just got a pair of Ayres yesterday and could not be happier with them in my system. When you spend this kind of money, there are a lot of great choices. So it still comes down to personal preference and system matching. Opinions and reviews won'...
Zero feedback and class A,which is better?
I have to chime in here having listened to MA-1 MK II.3 through ML Summits and the ZEROs would be required. The MLs sucked the life out of an otherwise very fine Amp....Steve
Audio Research PH-7
I brought home a ph-5 and it was very nice so I ended up buying a ph-7 to get the full impact of the new gain stage from the re-3.I just picked up a ref-3 and together I have a system I never though I could own. I would call it sonic fireworks in ...
Tube Preamps...I'm sold
Actually I like the look of ARC simple but solid and refined. I am going to bring home the ARC cd-7 to try along with atma-sphere MA-1 MK2s tomorrow should be a fun weekend......Steve
Tube Preamps...I'm sold
Tboooe.......Now the wait begins. It is hard to believe that a 10K pre-amp is backordered 3-4 weeks, but it is that good. Report back when you get it and let it break in a while. I cannot stay away from my system, it just makes me want to listen f...
Tube Preamps...I'm sold
I upgraded from a Classe cp-60 to the ref-3 and for me it is quite significant. The classe is a great pre but I have never heard the depth of soundstage, harmonics and sense of space that I have now.I tried the LS-26 and it is also an improvement ...
