Philips 963 firmware
Thanks for the link to the download site. I had the exact same problem with my 963, but it wasn't readily reproduceable. I contacted B&K and received a software upgrade for my Ref 50 just last week thinking it was on the preamp side. What kind ...
Jolida JD-100A Tube Rolling
Thanks. I just think that after doing this quite a few times I'll probably fatigue the area of the board around there. My bases are already a little looser on the PCB than when I first got the player - not a big deal, just trying to keep it like-new.

Thanks for the recommendations and comments about the GE trips. I was looking into dampers too. I feel like I'm going to break something one day taking those covers on and off for tube-rolling.
CDP-Tube Suggestions
Has anybody compared GE Non-5-Star triple micas to 5-Star triple micas? I have a pair of Non-5-Star and didn't know if all GE triple micas are the same before I popped for a pair but with the 5-Stars. I've found my Non-5-Stars to not be as warm as...
Philips 963 Sound Modifications
I've contacted with Dan Wright about modding the 963 and at least at the time I wrote him, he said that he had no plans to offer mods for this unit.Russ

Thanks, I'll check out the other thread. Did you buy your player upgraded or did you get it upgraded afterward? My player is stock, but I've been looking at doing the upgrades. If you did buy it stock, I'd be interested in hearing about the sonic ...

Thanks Distortion for the descriptions. I think you're right about the system dependence - at least tubes are a lot cheaper than most of the other components to roll. :) I'll just save up all the tubes I roll to re-roll them when I change out othe...
Jolida JD-100A Tube Rolling
Thanks Newbee. The Jolida is my first piece of tubed gear. I'm trying to do the HT/HiFi thing with more of a slant toward the HiFi. I have a B&K Ref 50, B&K 200.5 Amp, Philips DVD-963SA(unmodded), Klipsch Center and Sub for the HT, Spica T...
B&K Reference 50 and 200.7
I didn't audition too heavily, but another one that I did listen to was the Sunfire Cinema Grand II which is another popular amp run with the ref 50 which sounded fine at the time, but it was at a friend's place with a Ref 50 with stock power cord...
B&K Reference 50 and 200.7
Yes I have. I posted what I did on the "Please help with notch filter on B&K pre-amps" thread. It's much better now.
B&K amp
I had a similar combo to Chrisrn as my 200.5 shipment was delayed. I first had a Ref 50 that I was running single-ended into my Denon 3300 for an amp. The difference in sound from the different preamp section through the Denon was pretty amazing. ...
B&K Reference 50 and 200.7
I just bought a Ref 50 and 200.5. I haven't needed to call customer service yet so I can't speak to that, but am very happy with this combo. One upgrade that was amazing was a Richard Gray High Tension power cord on the amp.I'm pretty new to the w...
Please help with notch filter on B&K pre-amps
I recently bought a Ref 50 and just when through this process. After listening to booming from the other side of the house when the music volume was at a relaively low level. I decided to make the adjustment. After adjusting all of the channel leve...
Philips 963SA vs. MSB Link
This doesn't exactly answer your question, but I have an unmodified 963SA running through an unmodified Channel Islands VDA-1/VAC-1 combo. The D/A conversion is noticeably better with the Channel Islands setup compared to the Philips upsampled or ...
