Open baffle speakers
Jamo R909 uses unusually sensitive woofers so they’re louder than the other drivers by default with a rising response, then a filter in the crossover is used to drop the level of the woofers at exactly the rate of their low end rolloff. The result...
Open baffle speakers
I own two sets of Open Baffle speakers - Legacy Empires and Jamo R909s. The R909s dont need it because of their design, but open baffles are capable of making a healthy amount of low end if you compensate for the low end drop with an EQ. Both of m...
Jamming with JAMO?
907s would be cool to check out, but I'm not sure how comparable they are to the R909s because they use different woofers and tweeter. The magnesium midrange driver although from the same manufacturer supposedly is different too. The 907 is only a...
speakers that are a little laid back in the mids
Sonus Faber Venere is relaxed quiet a bit in the upper mids/low treble, enough so that some distorted guitars for metal sound overly dark imho. Sounds great on other sources though.
Jamming with JAMO?
"I am looking for something like that - I am not an audiophile and don't listen to jazz or classical but electronic music and want wow factor and dropping jaws every time I or my guests are listening to them." Old thread I know, but the R909s a...
Tara Labs
I have a pair of Tara Lab RSC Air3s. They’re built well and I think and other people I’ve compared them with think they sound better than the cable I was using previously. I was kind of shocked because I didnt fully buy into the speaker wire thing...
Could Class D really be that good?
Does anyone know how the NuForce/NuPrime class D stuff stacks up? They seem like they've put more thought and research into the stuff than just using reference class D designs.
Will accidental max volume damage a speaker?
Its hard to blow out most speakers from short bursts of high level. What will kill them is clipping distortion - IE overloading your amp or DAC at max volume.
No love for Legacy Audio
Just an update, I've dialed in my Legacy Audio Empires better, now they are great for music. In particular electronic, rap, pop, and acoustic music sounds huge on them. I'll probably never part with these as long as they're functional, they're SO ...
Headphones vs speakers….
Personally prefer speakers, but the room and speakers have to be good. Couple of reasons have already been covered by other posters - there are crosstalk and phase stuff that occurs around your head (even across your face) with speakers, so the so...
No love for Legacy Audio
I have a pair of Legacy Audio Empires. Although they have a large soundstage they are not my favorite for music, however they are great for movies and games. Dialog and soundstage sounds big, Tie Fighters sound like they’re flying over and passed ...
