Who has tried Orbeck Stratti ?
The cotton is put into the construction so that the 4 conductors remain twisted thru out. It probably does little to aid the sound, but we do find the cable to be much better than most stuff out there (soting much more). The copper is of good qual...
NJ Audio Society?
I am always up for some critical listening and tinkering of sorts. If joe is in I guess sure why not, I'll go, do, be, exist and join in the doings.-Phil
What power cord to use with a Cary 306/200?
You might look at Custom Audio Give Joe an email and he will be able to tell you all about CA's cables. -Phil
Cable directionality
I had a breakthough, The arrows (directionality notation)are so you can see which way the signal goes when you are wading through your orgy of interconnects behind your AV rack without having to trace each one back to where it comes from or goes t...
$150 Transport anyone?
The CD mechanism is the same one used in the Redgum RGCD5 which sells for $1600. So My price of $150 is a bit more reasonable. The Redgum unit is a full CD player not just a transport, but you can get a Burr Brown based dac for a few hundred dolla...
$150 Transport anyone?
ViggenIt is a transport because it does have buttons to control it and it does have a Sony/Philips Digital interface SPDIF. The casing has a IEC type power inlet. What you havent seen does actually exist. I have been building desktop computers for...
$150 Transport anyone?
JviaIt does have an audable fast forward and rewind feature. I agree that the lack of a display sucks and if I could give it a display I would but I am pretty sure that the IDE interface on the drive would require a desktop computer to interpert w...
$150 Transport anyone?
The Transport! only exists because of a coincidence that a particular computer CD-ROM drive has both a digital output and stand alone operability. I have seen the drive being used for this purpose before but it was at an audio dealers home and I d...
$150 Transport anyone?
I havent tested it for temperature yet but the casing just happens to have a fan on it. The drive itself is in an internal metal casing so I dont think that much dust will be getting inside unless you live in a very messy household then I might ha...
$150 Transport anyone?
The unit is basic meaning it does not have programability which I have never used myself and I find it somewhat pointless. The fan is tiny and is basically silent. It is very well shielded I used 8 ferrites in my prototype 3 on the incoming power ...
Why do digital cables sound different?
I would have to agree with the impedance argument, if a digital connection says 75ohm you need a 75ohm capable cable that is purpose designed to sound good doing what you want to use it for. I would suggest looking at Canare's RCAP true 75ohm RCA ...
Cable directionality
Having developed interconnects I think that directionality is of minimal importance when the cables are made, the shielding grounding point is a good one and it is supported by the physics professor that aided me in developing the Argento intercon...
