esoteric x-01, ux-1 etc reliable?
Thanks for the feedback. It does seem like Esoteric provides good technical support and service on unmodded units. Based on your advice, it is probably good to stay away from modded units because of the void warranty issue. Not sure how the modder...
Dynaudio Contour S5.4 or Confidence C2
Again, thanks for the valuable responses. The bass response of the 3.3 do tighten up tremendously and go deeper with better resolution when paired with high current amps. Coincidently, this is why I fell for the SACD format (relatively to redbook)...
Dynaudio Contour S5.4 or Confidence C2
I forgot to mention I have a pair of ASC tube traps in the corners of the room behind the speakers, and I have the 3.3 toed in. I used a sound meter and a test tone CD that sweeps the frequencies to do a simple analysis of the acoustic response of...
Dynaudio Contour S5.4 or Confidence C2
Thanks for the great response so far. My concern with the C4 is placement. My little audio nirvana is really quite little, measuring only 13'x15' with relatively low ceiling. The C4 really will dwarf everything in the room with its height reaching...
Audio Grade Fuse, Anyone?
Edesilva,I don't think I quite follow you. Are you saying that we should not try to replace the fuse with another fuse (similar current rating) because it might blow up the amp? Or putting the fuse in in the wrong direction might disable the fusin...
Audio Grade Fuse, Anyone?
Thanks for all the response. I just had the fuses in my Sonic Frontiers Power 3 pair replaced with the Isoclean gold 7A slow blow and I have to agree with Tbg that the results were rather amazing. Background is quieter and images become clearer. I...
Is Exemplar the answer?
711Similin,Any update of the shoot out on SACD between the Exemplar and the APL? Did you try to connect APL directly to the power amp during the shoot out. That is what Alex recommended. I have the APL with the latest DAC/volume control mod, and t...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Bryan,Thanks for the feedback. I agreed that those are really good looking tubes. I read from somewhere that the CV181's require higher current on the plates than the regular 6sn7 varieties, maybe that's the issue. Is it possible that the higher c...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Hi,I am wondering any Supratek fellow out there tried a pair of Mullard CV181 in the line stage (especially in the Chenin/Syrah)? How does it compare to the Tung-Sol round plates or Ken Rad black glass?
