Known Factory wiring fault in SOME McIntosh MC611 monobloc amps @banter Purchased the 611's a couple of months ago and have noticed a hum that eminates a hum! Amp to drive Focal Kanta 3 There is an audio magazine that did a review on these. Said focal was disingenuous with the 8ohm rating and that these will work best with an amp comfortable with a 4 ohm load. Check out the impedance graph, is below 4ohms for most of bass region.... | |
Living with unsolvable hum - Any audio detectives out there? Cable tv was the culprit in my system. Put a $15 isolator between cable and box, quiet as a mouse!! | |
McIntosh Autoformers and Speaker Impedance Dips (KEF Reference 3’s) I run kanta 2's with the mc452. The Kanta's stay below 6 ohms through the bass region, with a low of about 2.8 ohms at around 100hz so I run them on the 4 ohm taps. Much better control of the bass drivers imo.
