Arcam AVR 300 vs Rotel Seperates
Jack - I agree re: the CD5i. I think it sounds fantastic for the money, especially at the prices they can be had for used.
Any AV pre/pro's or receiver with parametric EQ?
On the pre pro side of things, the Sherwood Newcastle P-965 has a parametric EQ called SNAP developed by Cirrus. Have no experience with it though. Some higher end / high end receivers from Denon such as the 5805 and the 4806 carry a well regarded ...
Receiver Upgrade - Denon vs. Rotel
Rotel is actually based in England and does all design work inhouse but has all production done in Asia.
Denon 3805 vrs Pioneer Elite Vsx-49TXI
The VSX-49TXi is a great receiver and as a "flagship" trounces the VSX-47tx since it uses much better internal components, despite the same power spec. It really does sound like a different animal. Its original retail price was substantially highe...
Outstanding 5.1 pre/pro with comp. video switch'g
TWC - any of the above mentioned pre pros will sound great but I am partial to the Meridian 561 and the Lexicon MC-1. Since you weren't pleased with the Anthem AVM2 and want better music performance, I think your best bet would either be the Proce...

Receiver Upgrade - Denon vs. Rotel
Save yourself some money and get the Rotel RSX-1056 and a separate amp like the Rotel 1075 which would allow you to reassign the two front speakers to 7.1 duty or Zone 2. There is little to no difference between the RSP-1068 and the RSX-1056 as a ...
Sony 777ES vs Sony 7100 ES Receiver upgrade?
The reason that the 7100es weighs substantially less than your old 777es is because it uses digital amplification as opposed to analog. It still has a massive toroidal transformer but since the digital amplification is something like 90% effecient...
Which Reciver?
The Arcam is a very nice piece which is fully up-to-date and should serve you well for the next few years until the upgrade bug bites again. The NAD is a nice sounding piece as well but at times has been plaqued with faulty build quality and buggy ...
