Tubes for your K&K Maxxed Out Phono? Thank you Shakey (or is it Neil? In which case, may I say, what a big fan I am :) & Capeman.Nice to hear that someone running the same amp that I am loves it. I have the stock tubes back in and am facilitating break in (most enjoyably) as I ty...
Tubes for your K&K Maxxed Out Phono? Just heard back from Kevin. He said to leave the trim pots alone on my unit. Said he ran it in HIGH in the MC section and LOW for the preamp's overall output; which is how he shipped mine. It did sound best this way. It's still incredibly tunable....
Tubes for your K&K Maxxed Out Phono? p.s. I think I know which trim pots they are, but I can wait to speak with the designer.. thanks again for the heads up Vortex.
Tubes for your K&K Maxxed Out Phono? Funny, my cartridge only outputs at .25 mVs (Denon 103r, sorry if I mentioned that already). Kevin factory sets the unit at high output for the MC section which is appropriate to the 103r, but has the gain switches at their lower setting for the p...

Tubes for your K&K Maxxed Out Phono? Thanks a lot for your responses guys. Right after I made my initial post, I thought: "how can you really evaluate a tube swap, now, when this unit is so new"? So I do think I should wait a bit and re-post my experiences when I have a little more b...
Denon DL-103R cartridge update I should add the caveat to the OP, that IMO, your tonearm and budget to procure and better match for the Denons, should play a large role in your choice. M
Reel to Reel decks Cool man, let us know how it goes with it. I have a Revox A77 & a Technics 1506 and I really enjoy messing around with tape.. so what if it's a bit anochronistic :)There are a few other boards you can check out for some RTR info. A dedicated o...
Denon DL-103R cartridge update E, i'm glad you're loving your 103 and have had success with it on a heavied-up, medium weight arm. Sounds like you've hit upon the right weight combination, to put you in the cart resonance "green zone" or whatever we'll call an optimal range. Al...
Reel to Reel decks Listen to Orpheus10. Akai made some nice decks, but the parts are notoriously difficult to source and Akai's don't compare too favorably in both the sound and maintenance departments to Revox, Teac, Pioneer, Tandbergs, etc. It's awesome to have a ...
Denon DL-103R cartridge update You won't be sorry. His work is excellent and IMO, a great value for what you'll have, when all is said n' done. I can only speak for a Shelter 501 and the 103R, with the mid level retip: ruby canti, nude contact line stylus. As long is there is n...
Denon DL-103R cartridge update I have had a couple of retips done by Peter.. and they as a near majority will tell you, they are much better carts as a result. The Denon (i also have a SS retipped 103r) seems made for it: It seems to retain its trademark cohesivness, even with ... |
