To Biwire or not to biwire I use Audioquest Volcano for bass and mid, Audioquest Mont Blanc for treble. I tried them with and without a jumper for extended periods of time. Without a jumper is way better than with a jumper. The clarity and musicality is far superior without...
Ethernet Cables To try this, I first bought CAT7 to replace the old CAT5 and CAT6 and see (on TV) and hear improvements. Then I bought AQ Cinnamon and see and hear improvements. After a while I decided to try AQ Vodka when a deal came along, now I found I am list...
Odd length speaker cables The difference is not due to timing but in loudness. The longer cable is a bit weaker in loudness due to its higher resistance. Moving that speaker a bit closer to the listener makes it a bit stronger in loudness.
Primare DAC 30 Jond:Thanks for the reply! The 2V is from my CD player directly, also from the RCA/single end of my OPPO 105. So, if I leave my volume setting unchanged in my preamp, DAC30 is as loud as my CD player or RCA output from OPPO 105, but far less loud t...
Furman Reference IT 15i power conditioner I have the Furman IT Reference 15i and Elite 15i. 1) Reference is much cleaner than Elite. It's worth the extra costs. 2) The symmetrically balanced outlets are much cleaner than the linearly filtered outlets. Sonically, the two types of outlets a...
Fake Audioquest sky cables We cannot get our money back if Audioquest does not return the fake cables to us, and the fake cable sellers make money out of us and Audioquest, so we and Audioquest are the ones that get hurt. If Audioquest return the fake cables to us stating i...

I know some feel B&W's are bright, and they perhaps are on some systems. A friend of mine has the 804 D3's with McIntosh amp, preamp, Op...
What speakers do you recommend? I'm considering B&W 804 D3 or Sonus Faber Olympica II In case this is interesting or helpful to anyone, I bought a pair of B&W 803 D2’s (Diamond) from the local Magnolia. I didn’t get the 804 D3’s because I needed more bass than they could give even though they are sonically superior to the D2’s....
Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking? GregKraus:Did you buy the BD32 or Oppo-105? How do you like them? I am trying to make the same decision now. Any info/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Ayre vs Primare (I know this is an old threat but ...)Ayre costs more and is class A (Primare is class A/B) and therefore should sound better. Looks is a matter of opinion. I personally like Primare’s elegant look much better.

What speakers do you recommend? I'm considering B&W 804 D3 or Sonus Faber Olympica II Oh, I am also interested to know how much difference there is between B&W 804 D3 and the earlier versions of 804's, especially D1 and D2.
Using McCormack DNA-0.5 Deluxe as Mono Amps I just did a horizontal bi-amping and was amazed as how good it sounds. My bi-amp-able speakers have high crossover at 3.5KHz. So I wasn't expecting much improvement on the bass/mid side but it improved dramatically, which I don't quite understand... |
