Ear Candy: Most startling recordings. Pink Floyd: Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother
Pass Labs Aleph 3 Thanks for the posts guys. I generally listen to late '60s, early '70s music. The volume control rarely goes past 9:00 on the dial when I use my current amp, a Bryston 3B.
Best Cd Player for $2000 used Mark Levinson No. 37...clarity.
What'sBest Deal Tube PreAmp New or Used? I guess we're in unison, the Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 gets the call. I've never seen such agreement on this board. I got mine for $495 more than one year ago. I'm very happy with it; I just wish it were remote-compatible.
Biggest Sonic Improvement When I changed a Conrad-Johnson DR-1 to my Mark Levinson No. 37 I noticed a steep difference.
Top manufacturers! I only have a few years of experience, but I'll throw in Mark Levinson, Jeff Rowland, Wadia and Sonic Frontiers.
Best used transport under $2000? If you're lucky you can get a Mark Levinson No. 37 for less than $2000. If not, spend the extra $300 for it.
Best CD player now made. I bit the bullet and bought a Levinson, and I don't miss that money for a second. I'm stunned a CD player can have this much impact on a system, but it did to mine. It's so much better than the c-j I had. |
