200g vinyl, more static?
Seems I'm not crazy..."Record players and records are particularly susceptible to static for a few reasons. Firstly, in the vinyl material itself, it has a very suitable medium for the buildup of static charge and ironically, the thicker and purer...
Only 1 Lacquer producer left, in a garage in Japan?
Sounds legit..."In an interview with Pitchfork, Third Man Records co-founder Ben Blackwell said the Apollo fire “will present a problem for the vinyl industry worldwide.” He noted that Apollo was one of just two companies that make lacquer discs, ...
Bad Fire: Worldwide Vinyl Supply Threatened
“There are only two companies worldwide that produce lacquers. One of these companies is a one-man operation in Japan run by an old man who produces the lacquers in his garage."NOT GOODhttps://www.factmag.com/2015/05/07/pressed-to-the-edge-vinyl/
Bad Fire: Worldwide Vinyl Supply Threatened
I’d like to believe they could just pick up and rebuild but I don’t think that is the case. The machinery is gone, can’t just up and order this stuff and the people that knew the most about it all are dead, not in the fire but via time.I also read...

Sent Back the Pro-ject Turntable: What would be the best option in the $1800 range?
I like VPI though there are some quarks with my table that took time to figure out.  I'd go for a used Prime.  The reason I like VPI is they have been around a long time, the tables are upgradable, the motor is outboard and mine is a monster.  All...
Shine A Light... On A Brand New LP
Yes, it is terrible. The main one I avoid is United Record Pressing, talk about a festering turd of a plant. The reality is new vinyl is quite bad when compared to old vinyl period. I only buy from acoustic sounds as they will allow for returns and...

Is there a physical and ritual connection with the analog LP?
Of course this makes sense!I have been a digital guy all my life, just by generation, not by choice I suppose. I recently purchased what I call my "mid-life" crisis stereo. All analog, all tubes. I’ve wanted something like this for 20 years.I fell...
Manley Chinook - chronic issues
Thanks for the replies. Didn’t mean to come of complaining just frustrated. I thought I had made progress to find I had not. I talked with Paul from Manley and I've been in communication with both Upscale and Manley, and to be honest VPI and Sound...
Disappointing vinyl purchase
Sounds like a bad pressing, but to be honest its probably just being pressed at a crapy plant. If it's not MOFI, QRP, or the one in France or the Czech Rep. I don't buy it, I go digital.  Best you can do it buy from Acoustic Sounds or Music Direct ...
