Is DEQX a game changer?
Al,It looks like it might be a reflection from your mic stand. You may need to invest $20 or so in a boom stand, attach the mic on the very end of the stand's horizontal arm, and extend the arm all the way forward. That's what DEQX recommends.
Has anyone bi-amped with a Cary SLP-05?
Keith,At some point I briefly tried the CAD 200 on the woofers of my Acapellas and had no issues at all. My pre is Supratek Dual Cabernet. The CAD 200 is a nice amp for the money, with midrange being an antithesis of typical solid state sound, but...
The Anatomy of the Acapella Violon - shocking find
Amfibius,The CAD-200 is a great amplifier and definitely one of the best kept secrets in audio. Absolutely an amazing value! It has a beautiful midrange and top end reminiscent of Cary tube amplifiers. Internally it is almost identical to the CAD-...
AMR CD-77
I also had the pleasure of participating in the AMR demo at Essential Audio last weekend. I had very high expectations for this player. Minor operating quirks aside, I can confidently say that my expectations were met. This player has an absolutel...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
Yes, the Einstein OTLs are great with the Acapellas but the combination of the Jadis 300B SETs and the solid state Belles sounds as good or even better than the Einsteins so I'm sure that there are other amps out there that would provide a great m...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
The crossover in the Violons is physically separated into three parts. Each of them can be driven by a separate amp so theoretically even tri-amping is possible. When I spoke with Hermann Winters of Acapella he said that bi-amping works great on t...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
I'm sure you're going to love the Violons. I did some experimenting with mine over the last couple of weeks and contrary to what most people tend to think, these speakers responded very well to bi-amping with quite different amplifiers. I already ...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
Yes, the Violons can be bi-amped, however the overall coherence of the sound will suffer if the amps used are quite different. Remember, the crossover point is high at 800Hz, which means that the amp driving the bottom section would work pretty fa...
Acapella vs. Avantgarde
I had the pleasure to listen to Fernando's wonderful system last weekend and I was really impressed with the overall speed, dynamics and bass slam of his Unos. In these three areas the Unos sounded better than any other Avantgardes I ever heard. I...
Best all around box speaker between 15K and 25K
I agree with Dky: ever since the Parsifals appeared in my room, my music collection has grown at a much faster rate than with any speakers I had owned before. The Parsifals are simply so beautifully voiced and natural that with my Linn Klimaxes th...
SF Extremas
I owned the Extremas and really loved them for their rich, refined midrange, great dynamics and silky smooth and detailed top end. Very musical and involving speakers. The ARC 100 mkiii will drive them OK, but if you listen at higher levels (and t...
Best power amp to match Sonus Extrema speakers
I used the Extremas with a pair of Linn Klimax 500 monoblocks (290 WPC).This combo was superb: amazing speed, dynamics and "slam". The midrange was very natural and fully textured and the refinement in the treble simply incredible. No harshess, br...
SF Guarneri Homage or SF Extrema?
I owned the Extremas and heard the Guarneri on several occassions. Both speakers are excellent, with the Extrema speaking with a richer, fuller tone and the Guarneri a little brighter amd more transparent. The Extrema sounds "big", can play much l...
