The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
One major factor that may have been covered somewhere in this thread is how revealing your system is. If you have speakers, amps and related equipment that can accurately translate the signal fed to them you'd be amazed at the difference in sound ...
Solid State Phono Stages
If you haven't considered the Rega Aura that's my current phono preamp and "end game" for me at least. I owned the PS Audio Stellar Phono Pre and traded for the Rega. The Aura is super refined, detailed without being strident and very musical. I h...
Albums that you listen to straight through / start to finish whenever you put them on!
And one very important pair not to be missed and always played through (NOTE: Not necessarily vinyl, but albums none the less).Tom Waits - "Mule Variations" Tom Waits - "Alice"

Quad ESLs - I have some questions
If we're talking about 'stats you can't forget Sanders Sound Systems model 10e. A bit pricier than the Quads, but offer the best of both worlds. The most coherent sound from 170Hz to 20kHz+ and a very well integrated TL (transmission line) woofer ...
static Issues...anybody know why?
FWIW, I've noticed a distinct difference with inner sleeve type / material. The plastic sleeves tend to impart much less static to the LP than the paper ones.
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
+1 for Sanders being underrated. My model 10e system with (2) Magtech stereo amps and LMS (loudspeaker management system) produces some of the most lifelike music I've heard and plays quite loud (unusual for 'stats).
Stein Harmonizer's
Here's a suggested test to see if the Stein product is in fact changing / improving the sound of your system. Assuming this device requires power have someone other than the critical listener switch it on and off at random (without being observed)...
Another help me spend money thread or maybe not.... going to AXPONA
+1 on the Sanders 10e ESLs and Magtech amps.
Power Amp advice
If your amp has a toroidal transformer that may be creating the hum. You could try checking the fastener(s) on the transformer. I installed DC blockers in my earlier Innersound amps so that the transformer would quiet down. These can be made with ...
I need your suggestion for a Preamp.
Not on your list, but the PS Audio BHK preamp is really something special. It's a hybrid with (2) signal tubes in the front end that allows for rolling / customizing the sound to your preference. You can find used for around $3500. Not sure if thi...
Did Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" blow up my woofer?
You could also measure the woofer with an ohm meter. Should be around 8 ohms (typical). I've found the best solution for TT isolation is a wall shelf. Rega sells one for not huge money and you can buy or build a simple plywood shelf to sit on this...
Any one try the new Synergistic Research BLUE UEF Duplex receptacle?
Could someone please explain why a fuse or receptacle needs to break in? I'm thinking it has more to do with the return policy of these over-priced gimmicks. Just wait more than 30 days and it will sound amazing! And... the window to return will h...
Favorite band or artist of all time?
++1 for Tom Waits, The Band and Blue Oyster Cult. Oh and let's not forget Family (that band never gets enough representation).
Electrostatic Speakers
++1 on Sanders ESLs. The model 10e is truly fantastic. They are "arc-proof" given their perfect insulation stators. Also, Roger Sanders and company are the best in terms of support. You will find only knowledgeable, reasonable and helpful folks at...
