Can we objectively rate speaker cables? Rova, your list is much more comprehensive and if people would be willing to rate cables at that level it'd be very informative. But it seems this thread is somewhat of a bust. If someone here knows someone in the review business, they should sugg...
recommended Analog-to-Digital convertors? Al, Until Panasonic releases their Class 10 SDHC cards, I believe the best available are Class 6 which guarantees a 6mb/s (presumably write) rate. Wouldn't that still cause problems for the Sound Devices 702 at 24/192/2?

Should I switch from SS to tube integrated? Why not get a nice tube pre-amp and use your integrated as the amp?
best cartridge for less than $700 for AQ PT6 arm? I agree with Viridian. The lower-end Dynavector cartridges have good speed and detail for the price. If you're looking for something warmer, the Grado Sonata can usually be found for around $325 as a barely used demo.
How to box LP's You can realistically dumpster dive for corrugated cardboard and just duct tape together your own boxes. If that isn't classy enough for you, the art supply store of any art school has sheets of new corrugated cardboard. As long as you have suffic...
phase correction for records? Thanks to everyone for their comments. I performed the following experiment to see if I truly understood phase:I found a record that I did not feel had any phase problems.1. I switched the polarity of one of the speakers. The sound had a very unus... |
