Why are "low hours" a consideration?
To my mind the Audiogon community is about sharing our enthusiasm for excellence in sound reproduction with like minded folk. Technical advice is proffered based on experience, in the hope that said advice will help move one step closer to achievi...
Anyone successful in dealing with Tinnitus?
First off, my heart goes out to those who have struggled with severe tinnitus, even those of us who ( dumbly ) stood in front of the speaker columns at a rock event years ago, deserve some sympathy. My symptoms are intermittent, aggravated by long...
Computer Speakers Not made in China
I agree with Wireless200 that Audioengine 2 is an excellent value. You can adjust the EQ ( to eliminate the bass bump ) and fine tune the rest to your preference. They sound great (and plenty loud for a small room) IMHO and have a small footprint ...
Musicl Fidelity A3.2 integrated or A3 separates
Hi Tdav, I bought an A3.2 and found it a very musical, slightly laid back ( 15 rows back in the hall presentation ) that had plenty of power when called for. Then I sort of backed myself into a corner bidding on an auction demo Bel Canto eVo gen2 ...
Bel Canto eVo2i Gen II vs. S300i
I have the same question. So called class d technology seems to be advancing rapidly, costs are trending downward, and is a lot "greener" than class a or ab. And like a lot of others I seem to have the upgrade itch. But is the cost/benefit worth i...
Is there a truly musical multiple CD player?
My Sony c222 modded by SACDMods is truly a higher end CDP. Musical, very good imaging and wide sound stage.I REALLY ENJOY programing a variety of music to read to, listen to, or just drift off to sleep to, without having to get out of bed in the d...
Help Best 5-disc cd-changer...........
May I suggest an older Sony 5 disc changer like my C222 or a C555? Then have it modded by SACDmods ( check out his website ) or other reputable modder. Those old Sonys are built like tanks, thoroughly reliable and $200 to $400 on Audiogon or Ebay....
Sony 222ES SACDmods?
I had this done two years ago as a 2 channel only mod. My opinion, it's a great bargain. Everything handled in a timely and professional manner, including good written instructions.I especially like the convenience of a changer. The unit works fla...
MF 3.2 v MF 3.5 v Valve Audio Exc. v Creek 5350se
I have the Sony SACD Modded c222 changer which worked very well with my MF 3.2 and M20 speakers in a fairly small room semi nearfield set up. Plent of power, loads of bass ( if it was on the recording ) and smooth, musical albeit slightly laid bac...
Nearfield listening
I had the opportunity to hear the Harbeth M40s at a true nearfield, (about three feet away, and 5 feet apart) in an acoustically treated room. Matching REL Stadium 111's, tube amplification, state of the art turntable ( sorry, I don't recollect mo...
Harbeth M30 -
The Harbeth 30 and the Cremona Auditors (and possibly the Silverline 17.5) are also on my upgrade short list. About the same cost if one shops carefully on the used market. Unfortunately, I live in rural northern California and would have to drive...
Audiophile Quality 2 Channel DVD Audio?
Thanks for your insights and recomendation of the denon 3910. It's disappointing that there is not a lot of DVDA programing out there, but my interest in historical performaces leads me to think that collecting a library that documents 20th centur...
A More Forward Sound Stage/ Cables the answer?
Thanks for all the great input. I was up half the night and this morning moving speakers around, trying several radical positions that I hadn't tried before. What a learning experience! The most extreme was getting the speakers as far apart as the...
