Opinons on Musical Fidelity A3 cr Preamp Well, it has been two weeks with the Musical Fidelity -- and I must say I am extremely impressed. It is a terrific unit (as least as far as I can tell, since I will never use the phono stage) that seems more and more musical every day. My only ser...
Most achingly-beautiful music Wotan's Farewell from the very end of Wagner's Die Walkure...strict audiophiles should go with Solti/Decca recording, everyone else to the Goodall/English National Opera set (in English).
Favorite Classical Conductor Followup The two "New Year's in Vienna" discs (Strauss Waltzes and Polkas) on Sony are examples of how Kleiber can take the commonplace and elevate it several levels. And they're well recorded to boot.

Bel Canto or Birdland? Deutsch definitely preferred the MSB to the Bel Canto, but his reference system probably needed more sparkle from the front end than mine does. I've owned the unit for about 6 months, but haven't the had the opportunity to really compare it other ...
Best 12AX7 for CAL Alpha I loved JJ Tesla 12AX7s on my Alpha. The stock Chinese tubes were a little faster, the Teslas richer. I also tried GE 5751s and was not impressed -- to slow, too golden sounding. I found myself longing for the fast Chinese tubes.
Best Sounding Ribbon Speakers As one of the co-founders of the Apogee Acoustics Users Group, I may be biased...but my members tell me that a pair of vintage Divas, with proper ancillary equipment, are virtually unbeatable. I myself think that Duetta Signatures, now selling at ...
