Breaking in of CD player?
I am not real knowledgeable in the area of breaking in components but I think speakers are the only piece of audio equipment that really needs break-in time and that is because the speakers themselves need to loosen up because they vibrate to make...
Parasound CD-1
I enjoyed reading the discussion on the Parasound CD-1in this blog especially that by Eandj2000. This CD player sounded interesting when I read about it in the Audio Advisor catalog. I would love to listen to one but there are no Parasound dealers...
Review: BSG Technologies Qol Signal Completion Stage Preamplifier
I read a review of the BSG Technologies QOL in the February 2012 issue of The Absolute Sound. It was an interesting review. I hope to try one of these in the near future. Your review is similar to that of Robert Harley’s. I hope to listen to the e...
Small Floorstander That Uses Ribbon Tweeters?
I have a pait of Monitor Audio PL200's in a 14 by 14 room and they have a ribbon tweeter. They have a beautiful and clear sound. I would not hesitate to recommend these to someone.
Who makes a good or decent CD recorder?
Thanks for the input. I am leaning toward the TASCAM 900.

Comments/opinions on Monitor Audio PL200's
I certainly appreciate the input and opinons that I have received. My concern with regard to the PL300 versus the PL200 is that the PL300 may well be too big for my room which measures approximately 17 X 16 upon re-measuring it. The room is actual...

Thanks for your input. I have Bryston equipment: 4B SST amp (300 watts per channel)& BP26 pre-amp. My room is 17x14 feet. I do not play music very loud. I was afraid the PL300 would be too big for my room. I have never heard a pair of Monitor ...

Thanks for your response. I currently have a pair of B&W Nautilus 804's and was thinking of upgrading my speakers.
Electrostatic versus conventional speakers
The reason that I asked this question was that the new Magneplanar 1.7 was getting very good reviews and at $2,000 are affordable. To answer a couple of questions that were asked. I live in Henderson Nevada. My listening room is 18X16. My amp is a...
Why is 2 Channel better than multi-channel?
I'm not a big fan of multi-channel and it may be because of my age (over 60). Two channels make sense for music because that is how it is listened to: i.e., singers and musicians are in front of you and not all around you. I see multi-channel as m...
How much does your system retail for?
I have Bryston equipment and 804 B&W Nautilus speakers. The speakers were about $3000 eight years ago, the 4B amp was 4,000 new, preamp was 2500 used, and CD player was 2500 new. I have used Acoustic Zen cables: Double Barrel speaker cables we...
