Speaker that are 'KEEPERS" for the long haul!!! I switch back and forth between a set of the original Spendor S3/5 speakers and a set of Harbeth P3 ES2. Both are lovely sounding speakers, if you do not feel the need for subterranean bass.
Favorite religious song "Midnight Choir at the Rescue Mission" - Gatlin Brothers
What phono preamp are you using? SoundSmith Carmen with Icon Audio PS2
Song (or music) you want played at your funeral. "Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone" (Roy Clark) and "Hot Time on the Old Town Tonight"
"Bookshelf" speakers designed to be placed near the wall behind them? I think the Proac Tablette 10 is supposed to work well when placed near a wall.
Pick A Tube Phono Preamp, but not just any Tube Phono Preamp I have an Icon Audio PS2, which is a stunningly beautiful combination with my Soundsmith Carmen and Audiomods arm. I think Icon gear is still available from Music Direct.
Neat Momentum SX5i or Rega RX5 I use Spendor S3/5 with my LM 211IA, and the sound is very nice in my modest sized room (I have a set of Quad 11L Classics which also work well). I suspect that larger Spendor models would be compatible, and worth a listen if it can be arranged.
Proac Tablette 10 I would like very much to find out how it compares to the Tablette Anniversary and similar models from Harbeth and Spendor.
if you had my system and $2,000 budgeted for an upgrade, where would you spend it? I recently purchased an AudioMods tonearm, which is a drop-in replacement for the Rega. I find it to be a significant improvement over my previous RB300. |
