Headless MacMini There is a low-cost app called Rowmote that works well installed on an Iphone or Touch. It can shut down Pure Music, ITunes and the mac itself. Occasionally it will not work and I have to force a shutdown, but usually it works fine.
Firewire Question for iMac I have had good luck with Audioquest Forest Firewire 6 to 9 pin cables. Some sellers on Amazon sell them at quite reasonable prices.
Linear tracking vs. Pivoted tracking tone arms. Lbo, I believe that theories of tonearm design are less important than their execution. I was a long-time owner of a linear tracking ET2 tonearm, with its unique air bearing mechanism, but now I am the happy owner of a VPI 10.5. I think the Michel...

Any comfortable Quality headphones... Sennheiser 600's or 580's. Very comfortable and smooth, extended sound. 580's have been going fairly cheaply, and you should be able to get a used pair of '600's for ~$200-250.
25 foot bi-wire speaker cables that won't bust the bank? I have had very good results using the Terminator 2's in my system, linking first a McCormack .5 and then an Audio Research VT100 to my Martin-Logan SL3's. I have never tried Kimber 8TC's, so I can't say how well you would do with those. I have fo...
VPI cleaning fluid and fungus I think I'll put mine in the fridge. Also, I don't know if it would help, but you can add some amount of isopropyl alcohol to VPI fluid. Perhaps it would serve as a preservative. You might want to ask Harry Weisfeld.I have used one other fluid, bu... |
