Magico compared to Tannoy @fred60, somehow the lack of HDCD on the 205 escaped me. I do have, though, a 105 that I'm using in my workout room, so I'll A/B them
Magico compared to Tannoy Not to mention that if Mac amps are so hot why are you so chasing down a pair of JC 1+'s?Simple, my old Watt/Puppies have an efficiency of 93 dB, the S7s are rated at 89 dB. Just trying to get some headroom back. The JC1+'s appear to give the m...
Magico compared to Tannoy @fred60, yes, I have an Oppo UDP-205 so HDCD supported. Fine with me if the Dead keep releasing in HDCD :). I subscribe to Dave's Picks, so I'll have to go home and check out #29. Whatever you do, hang on to that Europe '72 box set, it's getting...
Magico compared to Tannoy @mijostyn, the Dead used 48 McIntosh MC-2300 amps in their Wall of Sound, and AFAIK they never blew one. They would, however, routinely blow drivers, invariably the sound crew would replace a woofer or 2 during intermission in the Wall of Sound er...
Magico compared to Tannoy I am mijostyn's friend who picked up the Magico S7s yesterday. Obviously I haven't settled in with them yet, but right out of the box I was blown away. I fired up the Dead's Dick's Picks Vol 29 5/19/77 from the Fox Theater, Atlanta, and as soon a...
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? Got my F113 fixed for the 2nd time. No issues since, as I have NOT left it on in standby mode, as I believe the standby power supply is the root of the problem.
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? I haven't sent mine in for the second time yet. Once I get it fixed, I will leave the power completely off at the surge protector so the unit won't be in standby mode when not in use, since both times it blew it did so while in standby. Not sure i...
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? Sorry doro, the unit is back together so I can't tell you the number of R542. I replaced the 35v/100uf cap and it didn't help. I spoke to JL, and they said in addition to the cap the output FETs are blown! Since this already happened once to me t...
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? Just removed the circuit board from my F113, and I can see that when I sent it in to JL for repair they had indeed replaced the 35v/100uf cap that netforceatg posted a picture of, in fact they had put in a 105°C unit. Until I replace it I won't kn...
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? Not sure if the resistance is what is printed on them, but it is as follows:R541: IR50R543: 2211R544: 1500
My JL Audio sub is dead. What exactly happened? My F113 blew and was fixed on warranty. Same thing happened (loud horrible noise when plugged in but switched off), now off warranty. Suspect its due to those cheap caps having blown. jlithen, did you post your photos of the fix anywhere? |
