SONY WEGA and component video .........
CORRECTION!!! (egad, I feel like an oaf...) For confirmation, I went to the US Patent & Trademark office website to find out once and for all if it's Wega or Vega. Drumroll please... it IS, in fact, Wega. I have NO idea why. My only guess is t...
Dolby Digital, DD EX, DTS ES, THX, etc.
An important footnote: Only THX licensees are allowed to use the term "EX" on their gear. Just one more point of confusion for the buying public. I, for one, get a kick out of how carefreely the manufacturers will will throw multiple formats/choic...
B&K 307 vs. Denon 5800 Debate
I lean towards the B&K (actually I have one on order at the moment) but its a tough call. Yes, Denon has nice processors (they use the 24 bit SHARC throughout), but B&K is the alpha test site for all Motorola chips--a nice advantage. So mu...
SONY WEGA and component video .........
Tim...You can't adjust the sharpness level from the DVD player, that is one of the step-up features on the DVPS560 (its called the Digital Video Enhancer & the Video Equalizer)...at least I'm pretty sure--to find out, hit the "display" button ...
Are you Guys Rich or What!?

Sonus Faber vs B&W
I'm wondering if you're referring to the GP's new version (just out recently) or the previous model (with the stones). I'm a Sonus fan, though to be fair, I haven't had a real chance to demo 805's. The new GP's supposedly offer a richer depth, and...
TV Options Terrifying Me. Please Help.
Thanks and yes, I HAVE to do my homework (I'm the Director of Product Training for a large CE specialty retailer). Could there be "that much difference"? Surprisingly, yes... They all look fantastic, and so in that respect, it's hard to make a bad...
TV Options Terrifying Me. Please Help.
My suggestion is to go CRT if you are looking for maximum picture quality for sensible price (under$10K). If space is not a concern, but you DO want size, go rear projection. My personal opinion is that plasma shows lots of promise--but has a ways...
B&K 307 vs. Denon 5800 Debate
I plan on purchasing the 307 as well. HOWEVER, you should know that at the moment, the 5800 provides a discrete 6th channel (rear center) for the new 6.1 titles, whereas most if not all others (including the 307) create the rear center info by mat...
