Magnepan 1.7 owners and subwoofers
Ran my 1.7's with (2) Velodyne DD12s. I bought a stereo pair used for $2k.
Dual subwoofers-need to be from same manufactures?
I'd vote for holding off until you can get two of the same sub. When I got my second sub, I experimented with a number of different configurations.I settled on running one dedicated for each channel.

Best Solid State Amp w/ Avalon Eidolon Diamonds
Not to hijack the thread but has anyone heard the NewClear amps with Magnepan speakers? That 40A current delivery worries me.
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's?
Do the 20.1's still need a subwoofer or do they extend beyond their rated 25Hz bottom end?
2.0 or 3.0 or 4.0 for HT Movie Audio?
I'm planning on doing a form of 4.0. I have the front left & right set up as full range with a sub on each of these 2 channels to enhance the bottom octave. I'm waiting on the surround speakers to arrive. The rear surrounds will be crossed ove...
New Maggie 1.7 owner, amp ?
+1 for the Odyssey Stratos Mono's. Insane bang for the buck. The Odyssey Candela Preamp mates well with this setup.

Magnepan observations.
I wonder how much of the "burn in" with Maggies is just our ears getting used to the very different type of sound they put out.I used to have planar magnetic computer speakers growing up. I switched to standard dynamic type speaker a few years bac...

What exactly does "Hospital Grade" mean?
I just wanted to add, in addition to the robustness of the connection and overall build quality, hospital grade receptacles are built to be wired with a redundant ground conductor (required by NEC Article 517, Health Care Facilities). It will NOT ...
Amp for Magnepan 1.7's
Brad, absolutely, I'm just looking for some direction in what to try and see what other people have had success with. There's so much out there, I just want to narrow it down.
Amp for Magnepan 1.7's
I'm looking to keep the integrated or pre & amp combo at around $2k used. I'm not sure if that's a good price point or not. I could flex up a few hundred more if it would do a lot more for me. I'm under the impression that you'd typically spen...
