DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@geoffkait @cleeds I'm unclear as to why you can't engage in a bit of discourse without getting personal. @geoffkait What in goodness sake has glupson done to anyone to merit that sort of talk. Get some rest gentleman.@prof What I was attempting ...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@cleeds Good call on the "borrowing."  My current dealer won't, so I shall endeavor to expand my horizons.
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
glupson,Spot-on man.  I am not even an audiophile.  I love music and just like good sound.  OK, I also want to get "my" money's worth. I really don't even care all that much about the issue at hand.  I am just enjoying the discourse, whether I am ...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@cleeds I understand the test very well. "ranking listener acuity" is not empirical per se.  You are assigning numbers to a qualitative result.  You are attempting to control for variability by using a double-blind method of testing. The key is th...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@geoffkait But I will agree that not everyone, in the whole world, is susceptible to confirmation bias in regard to a purchase.  That would be a generalization.  There have to be a few people out there that would be unaffected.  Not me mind you, i...
How to find the good CD recordings?
@shadorne Dude, we are on the same wavelength.  I just discovered the Nils Acoustic live about two weeks ago. Try Ray LaMontagne live.
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@geoffkait I disagree as it seems highly unlikely that someone would pay money for something they expect to provide an enhancement and not expect it to work. The "hope" that it will enhance is correlated with the pleasure in the brain. Moreover, c...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
Glupson,I was, as you can tell, pointing out the philosophical pitfalls accompanying the manner in which the OP went about gathering his knowledge of cables and the incongruity in the way he defends his argument.  He may very well be 100% correct....
How to find the good CD recordings?
@n80,For the Node, you plug your the ethernet cable to the Node into the router.  Then your RCA out from the Node into the preamp. Both cables are included. I think I use AV the port, but that part is not important you just need an open channel.  ...
How to find the good CD recordings?
@n80 In order to get Tidal, you need 20 bucks a month and a streamer of some sort.  You can get one for as cheap as Google Chromecast and a couple add ons and it will work from your phone to control Tidal.  There are lots of tutorials how to do it...
How to find the good CD recordings?
@shadorne A really nice thread here.  I can't say that I really like the Zep stuff on Tidal. A great example would be something like the MQA of Led Zeppelin's "Down by the Seaside" A great song, with endless possibilities if it would have been re...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
@calvinj  OK, I won't waste time with made up words.  Archimago has tested a boat load of cables over the years.  His methodology is sound.  His metrics show no change to many of the quantifiable specifications regarding hifi that have an effect o...
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ?
marklingsLots of good advice here.  I own the LS50s and was having some similar, but somewhat opposite, sound issues.  I ended up drastically changing the room arrangement. The speakers now sit 65cm from single pane glass wall and are 2.8m apart w...
want to ditch my Brooklyn to streamer..thoughts?
@bondmanp I use Tidal and in regard to what do I listen:  I am demoing a lot at the moment so I save all the albums I've never heard of from the sessions.  I trade ideas with guys on sites like these for high-quality recordings regardless of file ...
"Warm" vs. "cold" sound in Bluesound node 2 and Aries Mini with warm/soft amp and DAC
@ghosthouse Yes, that's the sort of thing in which I am interested. I received a post on CA that said the Mini with onboard DAC and Gungnir, when comparing their DACs, sound drastically different.  Would you be able to comment on this?
