Zu Omen or Tekton Lore I own the Tekton Lore's and I also find the tweeter to be too hot. I run them with tubes and my wife and audiophile friend who listened to them in his own listening space agreed. I'm working on adding a resistor to bring the tweeter response down ...
McIntosh Mc202 or Conrad Johnson MF2300a amp? I have a few speakers, but need the most power for some older JBL L150a speakers. They are 92db with 12 inch woofers. I was also thinking of buying some Magnepans to add to the mix. So...I do not want anything under 200 watts and around 90-100 amp...
McIntosh Mc202 or Conrad Johnson MF2300a amp? Yes, dynamics are important. I would like some life and not a dull/flat sound. The McIntosh 2205 for example, is too smooth and dull to my ears. The newer Mac amps sound much better IMO.
Conrad Johnson Sonographe sa400 or McCormack DNA-1 Ended up getting some Monarchy 160 SE monoblocks, which is a tube hybrid of 160 watts and doubles that into 4 ohm. I found a deal I just couldn't resist. They have 95 amps of current which is close to the DNA so I should be in good shape for power.
Do powercords make a difference in sound? Ok, I see that the can of worms has settled a bit. From my gathering and speaking to a local hi fi shop here, the consensus is that power cords can make a difference depending on the system and cord being used. I'll leave it at that and will try o...
Do powercords make a difference in sound? I asked this question because my system sounded like their was a blanket over it and I just couldn't figure it out. I had narrowed it down to my IC's or maybe I needed to swap power cords or something (although I have always used stock). Changed m...
Speaker help - short list needed Good suggestions, I wish I could demo all of these speakers, but I cannot. I will be pairing these speakers with a McIntosh 2205 and more than likely an Anthem AVM40 or AVM50 (do not have the Anthem yet). The Vandersteen's seem to be a very good o...
Speaker help - short list needed Also, which model of Dynaudio are you suggesting? I like the idea of getting away from a metal tweeter. The silk and exotic materials seem to be less harsh to my ears.
Speaker help - short list needed Room size is about 4k cubic feet to 5k cubic feet. I have only heard the Sonus Faber Luito and it sounded good to my ears. I have not heard the Grand Piano, but they are closer to my price in the used market.
Speaker help - short list needed I'm looking for floor standers, something that also packs good bass. Electronics are contingent on the speaker I end up with. I'm basically starting over in my audio quest so I can go any in direction at this point. Just want something musical.
Still lost on my pre amp, can anyone help? The Musical Fidelity A5 or A5.5 looks attractive in the used price range. Any experience with this integrated amp that has bypass features?
Still lost on my pre amp, can anyone help? The other option is to ditch my Pioneer altogether and get something that does 2 channel and HT well. If I go this route, my budget is around 2k. I was looking at the Arcam AV9 for example. This seems to work for 2 channel playback and HT. The 2 c...
Still lost on my pre amp, can anyone help? Budget depends on if I get rid of my current Pioneer receiver or keep it and just get a dedicated 2 channel pre amp with HT bypass. For dedicated pre, if I could keep it under 1k that would be good. |
