RCM recommendations My buddy bought a VPI 16.5, I bought a Clearaudio Smart Matrix. No difference in build quality or results, but he had a couple hundred dollars left to spend on LPs. Just sayin.
why do some turntables have multiple tonearms? have several different cartridges available to choose from without having to go through the hassle of alignment each time you want a change (different flavour). or to have a stereo and a mono cartridge already setup for use.
A Visit to High Water Sound and Oswalds Mill Audio Hi, which speakers did you listen to at Highwater? Always wanted to hear the Horning Eufrodite, which I know Jeff carries. Wondering if it happened to be those, and if so, what your thoughts were.

basement renovation - ideas? If you haven't already, also consider running dedicated lines before you put up the drywall. Best to plan where you will be situating your equipment and run dedicated circuits there.Whole lot easier at this stage. Gregg
Help me fix my cartridge Go to the hardware or auto supply store and see if they have a set of easy outs ( I think thats the name). You already have your hole drilled, the easy out is tapered and has a left hand thread, as it bites in to the screw it will turn it out. I'm...
PC Recommendation for Tron Seven Phono Pre I've found the Tel Wire cord, available here on Audiogon to be an excellent performer. Chris, the owner also seems to be an awfully nice person to deal with. He has a 30 day return policy as well so you can try for yourself and see. No affiliation...
AudioMetallurgy Zero I.C.'s I've had the GA0's for over a year now and I'm quite pleased with them. To me, they give you the best attibutes of copper and silver and none of the downsides. Nice detail and extension at the extremes without any glare or etching, and nice mid bl...
Tube Rolling on BAT Preamplifiers I believe you will find that BAT uses the best 6H30's available in their premier equipment, the VK52SE being one of them!
Merlin VSM and SETs? Pubul, dual output in a "quasi-parallel" circuit according to the manual.
Merlin VSM and SETs? I'm using Wyetech Labs Sapphires which use 300B's at 18 watts with VSM MM's and I'm quite satisfied with the sound. I don't listen at earsplitting levels but they will play the Allman Brothers loud enough to drown out my air guitar!
Turntable around 2k there's a teres with an origin live arm and a denon 103 for $1800 for sale right now on here. no affiliation to the seller.
Canadian Musicians I'll second Sarah Harmer, Give you Lester Quitzau, Po' Girl, The Be Good Tanyas, Wailin' Jennys, Fred Eaglesmith and thank you for The Waifs and Kasey Chambers.
Where do you find new music? I like to check the liner notes of the music that I'm listening to at the time, see who's singing harmony or who is sitting in on the session. Check and see what they've released and buy that. Then start over again! |
