TT: Aries or Delphi V I think the Oracle is avery good table with 'drop-dead' good looks. If I can ever get my wife to view one in person, I think it will sell itself. Peformance b/t the two let's call it a draw. As a piece of artwork, no comparison.
Loudspeakers played LOUD I likewise own the Dunlavy V(s) and have been very pleased. In 25 years of following this hobby I have not found there equal, and 'yes' they can play loud without any noticeable strain. I might also mention the benefit of listening to them at vari...
long term disappointments? Probably the most enigmatic speaker for me was the Magneplanars many years back. Could never quite get them set-up right in the room and never did match up a subwoofer to blend properly with it's bass deficiencies. What I learned from that is don'...
Dealer Ethics? - Anonymous disparagement I think we're comparing apples to oranges here. Dunlavy products represent some of the 'best buys' in high-end audiobut really are not in the same league with the higher priced PipeDreams. So this does sound something like sour grapes to me.

Freak Me Out Just a thought... but maybe try 'Jesus Freak' by DC Talk ifyou think you can handle it!!!
Best speaker a wife would tolerate Probably the best finish-out on speakers goes to Legacy Audio. Unfortunately, the sonics don't keep up with the cosmetics.
Best sounding RCA jacks..Cardas Silver? I have had wonderful results from the Audio Magic Sorcerer RCA interconnects. A-B ed against another top brand became a no-brainer choice. Really worth a try if you value 'smooth as glass' highs and overall transparency.
Vote for the best speakers in 10K range If,if,if...you have a big room without rectangular geometry (vaulted beamed ceiling per se) with high current amps and quality (other) componets and optimized wire you cannot beat the Dunlavy SC-5s used. This also assumes optimal placement. Payoff...
Audio Research a good match? I actually heard this combination a few months ago at a dealer location in Austin,Tx. Fabulous midrange with good bass extension (perhaps not quite on par with the Dunlavy SC-5).I personally believe that the ARC VT100 MKII is one of the better val... |
