Zu Druid & Definition Roundup
Spirit, I'd love to hear your Nat Audio SETs. They must sound stellar and It's nice to know you've come to a stopping point in your journey. I myself have come to a resting point (at least for a very long while) with the acquisition of a Devialet ...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3?
Yes, I have to agree with the above. I've never owned zu's that didn't evolve slowly over months. The good news is that the Def 4s sound pretty decent out of the box (unlike my previous Defs), but they will go from good to great to awesome over th...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3?
Spirit,When I went from a tube pre to my current First Watt B1 buffer/pre, I experienced better transparency and more transient snap with my Def 1.9s. This almost hurt my feelings as I was running a Rogue Athena pre which is no slouch and not know...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3?
Well, I just got my Def 4s a couple of weeks ago and I must say I am a bit shocked how much better these are than my Def 1.9s. Not that I didn't expect improvements, but as Phil has already laid out, these are a significant leap ahead of earlier D...
rogue audio m150 owners
Chrissain, I would contact Rogue about the m180 upgrade, but I have no reason to believe the $1,300 upgrade wouldn't be worth it, unless you're not into the increasing transparency, better dynamics thing. I was truly surpised how much better the m...
Speakers for Pathos
The Classic One sounded absolutely marvellous with my Vienna Acoustics Beethovens, though I did blow a fuse a couple of times listening to bass heavy material at generous volumes. A very good match together, nonetheless.
Axiom M80 VS Vienna Acoustic Beethoven on CJ 11A
Congratulations Andy. I'd like to recommend Paul Spelz Anti-cables for your Beethovens if you have any cash to spare. They are quite cheap ($10 per foot pair) and handily bested the Kimber 8tc in my system. The Anti-cables had more clarity and gav...
Axiom M80 VS Vienna Acoustic Beethoven on CJ 11A
Andy, I get the impression the rosewood Viennas sell reasonably fast. They are among the most beautifully made loudspeakers IMO. If the Beethovens don't work out you might want to investigate Spendors or Proacs. I've heard some some models of thes...
Axiom M80 VS Vienna Acoustic Beethoven on CJ 11A
Andy, if the Bachs sound relatively undynamic with your CJ amp, then there's a good possibility that the Beethovens will be a similar situation. If you're stuck on the CJ, then I'd do everything I could to audition the Beethovens with this amplifi...
Axiom M80 VS Vienna Acoustic Beethoven on CJ 11A
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Axiom loudspeakers, but I think you'd find the Vienna Beethovens to be extremely satisfying. I also own the Gallo Ref3 which is a phenomenal loudspeaker, but I prefer the Viennas for their image density and their seduc...
speaker with high WAF
You might want to look at the Vienna Acoustics Schonberg. It's only 3.5 inches deep, is made of brushed aluminum, and was designed for near wall placement. It received a great writeup in HiFi Plus a little while ago. It's starkly modern looking, s...
Speltz Anti Cables
Experiences obviously differ with these, but in my case the anti-cables did a better job of conveying spatial cues, venue information and instrumental decays. They replaced my Kimber 8tc which are a very decent, well-rounded cable, so for me the a...
