I never thought Vandersteen's were a very dynamic speaker, always a bit on the laid-back side.
Wire break-in safe without speakers?
"You are correct. But the cables will not "burn in" without a completed circuit–speakers or a load." Ok this makes sense.  😎 Would the RCA cables break in just hanging off the playing CD player?

I understand that tube amp generally needs a load because of the output transformers but thought SS amps were ok without.
Bob Robbins' setup guide
This set up takes a lot of patience and can be physically and mentally exhausting.  When I set up the left speaker I focus on the quality and impact of the bass but also how clean, clear and smooth Jennifers voice is.  You have to go slow and afte...
Need a processor and matching amp for about $1k
So I decided to give the Outlaw 975 pro/5000 amp combo a go.  Pretty nice I think.  The sound seems to be pretty neutral with maybe a touch of warmth.  They seem well made and the Outlaw support is very good.  It only has a basic set up but it act...

So I have been reading NAD receiver manuals.  I am not understanding if I can set the fronts to one frequency cut-of point and the center to another.  Does the statement (The Speaker Configuration is “global”) mean if I select a cut-off point for ...
Need a processor and matching amp for about $1k
Been doing more reading and getting more confused. I am not understanding why there are so many refurbished units all over, some 5 or more years old. Reading a lot of complaints of the units not functioning correctly, shutting down/freezing. Many ...
Need a processor and matching amp for about $1k
Any other way to approach this then? Not thrilled with buying a receiver with 200 ports with an ok amp section. If the processor has issues I will then have to trash the whole kit and kaboodle. I suppose the Outlaw stuff is not well received here...
Anybody used Nikko amps before?
I have been playing with some SS and have kept a Nikko Alpha 650 as it has a nice stage, is well balanced and has good dynamics. I do not feel it is a limitation in my system. Like to see what will knock it out of the sand system.
