Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Ordering 3.7's Monday, trading 1.7's. I have auditioned 20.1's they are great but too large for my listening room and not in my budget. I also heard rumor that the 20.7 will be out shortly.
McIntosh vs. Accuphase I have not compared one vs the other but i have listened to both extensively. my dealer handles accuphase and that is what they generally have playing. they also handle mcintosh. when looking for a new amp i listened to both however you cannot lis...
Seeking $15,000.00 speaker to replace Quad 988's I had a similar situation when I owned Magnepan 3.6R's, the mids and highs were great but bass was lacking, even after adding a sub, and the room needed to have them sound great was a problem. I have since got a dedicated room for audio however th...

new gear vs used gear Everything other than two pieces bought new. The two pieces purchased otherwise were as new dealer demo's.However I have sold a number of components and accessories on Audiogon. I have had very good results selling on this site as opposed to E-Bay...
How do you get to listen to high end speakers? Find a new dealer! Not every, but most dealers I have visited are more than willing to "show-off" their highest of high end equipment. I have gone back to the same dealer numerous times to listen to the exact same setup with hours of my music, as ...
B&W 802 N or Magnepan 3.6 ? I have owned both. Maggies first then went to B&W 802's, just sold them for B&W 800's. The Maggies were great, my only complaint was the lack of bass. I installe the Vandersteen 2wq sub which made a big difference but, it was another compo...
subwoofer for B&W 805sig Check out the Vandersteen 2wq. This sub is great, I used to own one, it increases the bass without giving you the excessive boom that so many subs create. I believe price is around 1200.
Leaving HT for 2 channel-Good or Not? I have also dropped 5-channel for a top of the line 2-channel system. I have since purchased another 5-channel ssytem but it is nothing special. You don't need exceptional quality to hear explosions and people yelling. 2-channel however is another...
Krell FPB 300cx enough to drive B&W Nautilus 801? I think the 300cx would be more than sufficient power to run the 801's. B&W's are fairly efficient, I have 802'S, same power requirement, and am running tube mono-blocks at 220w/channel. I am NOT lacking power, in fact I haven't turned turned ...
Tube DACs Try an Audio Note Tube DAC. The DAC One 1x Signiture is an excellent tube DAC at a reasonable price. I had a problem with my B&W's being too bright until I put the Audio Note into the system. Its worth a shot.

Need tube amp suggestion VT100,MB-125,Cary V12 I don't know exactly what your budget is but if you can afford it the VTL MB-185 Signitures are a great pair of monoblocks. They put out either 220w or 125w depending on tetrode or triode. I leave mine set at the 220w level and never push them. Th... |
