THE LATEST---Gold plated fuses?
nickel plating is a big problem with AC related products. Most companies use it to just add a bright non tarnish finish. The quality of the plate and how it sounds are not a consideration. I offer a silver plated fuse holder, so have a bias toward...
Am I the only one
I thought the design was meant to lower the noise level? Might be you are blessed with a low noise environment. Just a thought.
Shielded or Unshielded power cords
Most of the RF is on the line already. A good filter is a better solution IMO.
Bob Crump passes away over holiday.
I would like to thank Brian and Fred for their efforts to help Bob. You both were friends when that was a difficult thing to be to Bob. Bob was my business mentor and I had hoped that we would be neighbors in Eugene. I can just see the big guy wit...
Silver to Preamp & Copper to Amp?
It depends on the particular cables used. The new T.G. Audio high purity silver cables are extremely detailed and not, repeat, not agressive or bright. I have tried many cables and these are the kings by far.
Measuring AC phase Question
thanks for your suggestions so far. All tests were done with no cabling connected. Each unit came with a two prong plug with no ground. I did replace the attached cords with a IEC receptacle. My concern is the high voltage on the chassis when the ...
FM. Can anyone get Seattle or Eugene from Portland
I now live in Eugene, and have not tried to get Portland. When I lived in the Portland area, I tried to get a station in Eugene that I liked. I had a giant roof mount FM antanna, a rotor and a mast that got it about ten feet off the roof. I still ...
40hz ratings/speaker response
A lower limit of 40 Hz is not that bad. The trouble is we only speak of fundamental tones and not the harmonics. A lot of instruments have second or third harmonic energy below 40 Hz. If it is a ported alignment, roll off below the 40 Hz FS will b...
Here's your chance to help the bigmouth :
slap them in the equipment and leave it on 24/7. Be a man and take it. Sorry, don't know any way but to live through the breakin.
Cable Fetish: Exotic, Warm and Romantic
Exotic, warm and romantic? Sure you are posting on the right board??? This would be a colored cable. Most seek accuracy. Often, the software is not as good as we would like and our higher resolving systems show it. Look for a cable noted for rolli...
How many levels are there?
From time to time I think I am there. Then, I make the mistake of auditioning new cords or equipment and find I have not reached the final level. It is kinda like golf. You keep refining the game, with occasional setbacks. For me, the key is keepi...
FIM 880 AC Outlet-- Best tweak I've ever heard
Two questions come to mind. One, the copper alloy will be softer and might not retain the grip desired. And, two, copper tarnishes as do most metals. Copper tarnish is a very poor conductor. Silver tarnishes, but the tarnish is an excellent conduc...
Need replacement for garden hose Audio Advisor
The Homegrown Silver lace is a very good value cable that offers excellent definition and balance and is easy to bend and flex. It is a multi wire weave and will not pull your equipment off the rack by its weight or thickness.
Are silver cables on the way out?
Silver is a very revealing conductor and if properly used, yields the finest portrayal of sound I have heard. It does require a long period to settle in and using a break-in device greatly helps. If you want to hear deep into the material, my choi...
Carver Corp Vanished? Help!
Seems to me I read that Bob Carver bought the company back. You might try to find out via Sunfire ( his present company ).
