Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
There is no such thing. Its all gigantic BS. AC Electricity flows through copper wires into the speakers which convert them into sound via speaker diaphragms. The copper only needs to be as thick as possible to minimize loss from electrical resist...
Why does bi-amping speakers sound better?
You got this right. "is it that I simply doubled the power that resulted in better sound, mostly noticed the low end of the speakers was tighter, more powerful etc.... and obviously I could also play louder.  Or is is there something about letting...
Budget Audiophile Looking For Amplifier Suggestions
I bought a Sunfire Symphonic reference 200W for $900. Recently I bought Rotel RB-1090 for $875 on Audiogon.
To Bi-Wire or use Jumpers?
Brian27b, since you asked about the plugs, here what matters is the amount of surface contact area and how tightly they can be connected. There should be no possibility of tiny sparks (almost invisible due to low voltage) at the contact points.i w...
To Bi-Wire or use Jumpers?
Always prefer bi-wire if gauge and length are the same. With bi-wire all you are doing is doubling the amount of conductor resulting in way lower resistance for the low voltage DC current. Jumper with 12awg cables vs Bi-wired with half thickness c...
These three cables, what would you choose?
Once upon a time I was suckered by the dealer into buying Tara Labs. No additional value than a same gauge Monoprice Nimbus bi-wire. My Tara Labs 12awg biwire is sitting in a drawer. I found no difference in quality of audio.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
When comparing cheap vs expensive cable you cannot change the physical characteristics of the conductor. The gauge and length and number of separated conductors must remain the same (single vs bi-wire).Monoprice has Nimbus or Access series 12 awg ...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Your results are absolutely correct. Please don’t buy the $5K cables. If you absolutely must buy those and the money is burning a hole in your pocket, I will gladly accept the cash and send you 12AWG bi-wire cables and donate the rest of the money...
TEAC UD-301
I'm streaming Spotify/iTunes to UD-301 to Sunfire Symphonic Reference Amp to B&W 804 Matrix. Love the sound. Also have a spare UD 501 sitting around that I don't use because I prefer the use of a volume control knob thats on 301 but not 501.
Inexpensive speaker cables
I'm probably opening a can of worms but I still want to bring up the obvious. The most effective speaker cable is the one that can transmit the current from Amp to speaker with minimum loss. i.e fattest gauge you can buy (many scientific experimen...
Used CM8 or 20 yrs old mint 804 Matrix?
Teac uD-501 with Sunfire Symphonic Reference Amp. I really liked the 804 Matrix when I heard them at his house.
