If you were to design a tone arm, what would it look like and feature?
No matter the design, it would have a removable head shell. Many companies now have that type as standard on their most expensive models.  There is not terchnical reason for not designing the arm with one, but old traditions die hard.
Proper tracking force for the AT 150 MLX
I paired my 150MLX with a Rega RP1 (significant updates), and it is today my favorite cartridge.  I stopped using it as my daily player because the stylus pipe is so thin it scares me to use it all the time.  I decided to augment the Cartridge wit...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp?
Preamp for tubes, solid state for the power. It isn’t purest way to use tubes, but the cost of a high powered tube amp (100% amp) or a power amp is prohibitive for most buyers. I’ve always had solid state amps, but on a hunch I bought the Monopric...
Review: Clearaudio Concept MM Cartridge
Here are the facts concerning the MM Concept and several others.  The internal stylus assembly is identical to an AT95.  Once you remove the wings it will fit perfectly and play just as well.  The body of the cartridge is not what you pay the big ...
Ribbon speakers
I wish to add a late note to this discussion, because in 2016, many top bookshelf and many floorstanding speakers are using ribbons.  The modern version have tamed the electronic tweeter to make it desired in high end speakers.  On the lower end i...
RBH Speakers ???
RBH is a major supplier of components in the home theatre world.  I think they are only now giving any effort to direct sell or use Amazon and some others to sell some of their products.  My builder friend in Atlanta has used the RBH line for some...
Cartridge Alignment
The previously mentioned balanced turntable would be where I would begin.  Buy a small level (bubbles drive me crazy) and set it on the platter and slowly move it around first to see where the bubble is moving.  if it has a tripod setup like new u...
Help! My system is very bright it hurts my ear
I would highly suggest you replace that high end cable you probably paid to much for and replace it with Canare.  It has the ability to leave the detail and remove a considerable amount of brightness.  One system has Mogami, and my old Swans M1 (H...
Anti skate. I think something's wrong
I would highly suggest you either call the arm manufacturer or take the table to a reliable repair center to be checked.  That's the best recommendation anyone can give you.
Advice on Phono Cartridge
I hate the spoil the show for some of these very expensive carts, but in a recent review of 9 MM carts the Audio Technica ATN150MLX finished first, and the Ortofon 2M Black finished a close second.  The others were not even close.  I have a specia...
Yamaha R-S700 2 Channel Stereo Receiver
WCC10 for future reference.  The Pre-out/in is rarely seen on systems today, but it has a use few people understand. 1)The receiver may be used as a power amplifier should you desire a new audiophile preamp.  2) The pre-out allows you to disconnec...
