For those that use an external DAC with node 2i
The Audiofool in youtube has comparisons of the Node 2 to Topping E30/D50s. He also has sound demos if you are into that thing, so you can view the Node 2 demo, and compare it to the toppings as well as Schiit Yggy and Chord Hugo 2.
Okay, How Important Is Speaker Break In? (Dynaudio Contour 60i)
Break in is important but only in the first few hours; if you don't like the speakers after a day or two, send it back. I purposely tried to gauge this when I bought Special 40s. Significant change in the first minutes, then slightly improvements ...
Monoblock setup inquiry
@glaspmart, Mono connection information is in page 4 of the manual (Mono Connection heading). but essentially, 1 XLR per amp, connect +speaker to R+ of amp, and -speaker to L+ of amp. With this, you will not be able to use 2 pairs of wires to bi-am...
Monoblock setup inquiry
HI,I also have a Freya+ and 2x Aegirs, Note that you need to use XLR connection for monoblock mode. As for which sounds best, you need to try it out which works best for you, but for me:Monoblock sounds cleaner and slightly more defined, but sligh...
Can Room Correction Be Added to an Existing DAC?
I'm using a MiniDSP nanodigi to do all the adjustments digitally before sending to my DAC. I also have the 2x4HD but I find the DAC in it leaves a lot to be desired compared to my current one.
upgrade Dynaudio Special 40 to Kef Reference 1
Yes, it is an upgrade.KEF Ref 1 has more defined treble, mids are more detailed and tones are more accurate, bass goes deeper and has more substantial weight. That said, it is not necessarily better, as the special 40 is less neutral, produces loud...
Class-D Audio USA have just released their new GaN amp at the CES
Looking at the premium website but seems to be unfinished. Was a release date mentioned?
Analog room correction for vinyl
A MiniDSP and Umik mic is probably your cheapest experiment to try room correction. As per how analog converted to digital then to analog sounds for you, well I personally think it defeats the purpose of vinyl (why not just digitize all your recor...
New to the two channel world - Advice needed on preamp
Try jbl nano patch or schiit sys passive preamp. If you need a remote the schiit saga s is quite cheap and has a passive mode as well
I wonder why......
Re: Supercars, they still don't use the best wheels and tires. Not Carbon fiber for the lightest, not slicks for the best traction... But perhaps it's good enough to drive to the grocery and back.
Difference between Bluesound Node 2i and Cambridge CXN v2
Node app is way superior over the CXN and for me is the best music app after Roon.Cxn has a very slightly better analog output sounding cleaner but not that much. It is similarly only slight better than an LG V20 connected to an amp.CXN has a phys...
Sloppy, muted bass response on Hegel h190
I've tried the Hegel H190 on the KEF LS50, Reference 1, Tekton Impact Monitors, and they all produce solid tight bass.
Has any inexpensive Asian DAC manufacturer harnessed the ESS Sabre ES9038PRO Chip?
What is inexpensive? Massdrop has the SMSL VMV D1 DAC that uses octo(8x) ES9038PROs for $900.https://www.massdrop.com/buy/smsl-vmv-d1-dac
Amp for LS50
What sort of sound signature are you looking for?Actually, all amps sound great with the LS50 and while a better amp does make it sound a little bit better, I found my sweet spot to be the Schiit Ragnarok and anything after that is really minimal....
Quad S-2
I have heard the S and Z series and eventually settled on the Z1s. It's not going to be a popular because it is not an exciting speaker. It's the type of speaker that you probably won't bring home if you only spend 10-20 minutes auditioning, but t...
