There's really only one choice: Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue". A groundbreaking recording that has topped virtually every list of all-time best jazz albums.
I would have to agree, "Kind of Blue" is the best cool jazz record of all time, however Jonn Coltane "Ballads" runs a close second.

I agree with "Kind of Blue". How about the first Pat Metheny Group album, Pat Metheny Group?

This was groundbreaking jazz that's cool, timeless and terrific.
