Audio decoder bitrate limit?

Apologies if this question is odd, but it's been eating me up and I can't find anything on the internet.

I recently checked the encoders and decoders that come with AOSP Android and noticed that the decoders have a bitrate range (AAC, for example, is 6kbps - 510kbps). If I were to hypothetically surpass 510kbps with an AAC file, what would be the result?

Would my OS recompress the file in 510kbps to bring it within range? That doesn't seem too plausible, since that would delay the file's reproduction speed through music players that use AOSP's native decoder.
