best redbook cd player versus good dvd-audio unit

hi,

I was wondering if there is a benefit to adding a mid-priced good universal player which can play dvd-audio well to augment my emmlabs great dac and transport.

There are some good titles on dvd-audio like the doors, talking heads, neil young, rem.......

I cannot afford to splurge on a 5K universal player like the ayre 5cx so probably it would be the denon 3930ci or the mccormack udp1.

I listen to two channel only although maybe when I move I will add a home theatre 5 channel setup too.

so for a 2 channel setup, is it worth 2,000 for a mid-level quality dvd player to listen to what is already out there in high resolution dvd-audio or keep listening to the best redbook cd on my top of the line emmlabs equipment.

I heard about the oppo but as good as it is....stereophile said it was not nearly as good as the ayre 5cx.....of course that makes sense since the ayre cost around $5,000!
The OPPO 970 does sound damn good on the cheap. It will not decode HD or Blu-ray DVD but upscales to 1080i. Maybe not the ultimate answer but retail only $149 and includes a HDMI cable, it may be the ultimate back up player.
ive got a fairly revealing activ all Linn system, and am without a cdp at the moment...i listen to vinyl about 75-80% of the time...thinking of picking up an oppo as a temporatry solution..will this sound horrible or what? pls see my system, updated. thx
well fundamentally my question is more how a great cd player compares to a good but not great high res. player. In other words, if you play a redbook cd on a great cd player 2 channels versus the same title on dvd-audio on a good but not great player in two channels. Which would sound better?

Considering I have 175 sacd titled that play on the emmlabs player, maybe I should quit while I am ahead for the paltry 50 titles I could probably muster in high resolution dvd audio.
