Genelec 8260A

Auditioned a pair of Genelec 8260A for a colleague yesterday.
The intention is they will be utilised as the back end of his 2 channel system. Possibly at a later time to be expanded out for HT use.
(These are active so no more system synergy issues)
The Genelecs impressed – despite only having tiny 10” bass drivers they were able to go down to 20hz or so and were clear, detailed and undemanding through the mids and top.
The DSP (Tone and time correction) brings a stable and expansive stage/image to the table.
The tone correction (after EQing) allows one to augment or diminish various portions of the tone scales to potentially suit various user tastes or masterings.
(Flat at low volume can often be insipid)

Curious to receive comments from people who have experience with these speakers or the Genelec brand.
We listened for perhaps 2 1/2 hours (volumes a little limited due to environment) – do they fatigue arête a long listen?

Hi,
I have a pair of Genelec 8050A, two way powered monitors.
They are incredible for the money. In the High End you have to spend too much more to get similar sound.
remember that with powered monitors you have speakers, speaker cables and amplifiers. Altought the 8260A are not cheap, there are many speaker cables that cost the same as the Genelec.
In the High End world many people like to see tubes and big amplifiers, so Genelec and other powered monitors are not for them. But they really sound good.
Please let me know your impresions.
