Help! Apple TV go through irdac?

Hi all,
I am trying to get my older Apple TV to receive the signal from my phone or computer and pass it through my Arcam irdac first iteration through the optical inputs. I’m then going out from the irdac to my line magnetic 211ia’s rca. My phone acknowledges that it’s sending a signal to the Apple TV but no sound. There is no tv involved here. Thoughts?

or, if there is no way to use the Apple TV to stream my digital library, is there’s some sort of device that could connect to my dac that would receive the signal and pass it through my system?

The Apple TV should stream your digital files. I stream my lossless ripped Cds from a Mac Mini to two 3rd generation Apple TVs and use the optical outputs into stand alone DACs. It works perfectly.

Does the LED light turn on when you access your Apple TV?

Your DAC has 2 optical inputs. Are you sure you have selected the correct input?
Hi and thanks for your response!  The led comes on and I did match up the optical appropriately.  It’s rather confounding.  There also seems to me a mini usb in the back of the Apple TV I may try that into my dac if I can find the right cable.
Any other thoughts folks?
The micro USB port is for servicing only, not an output. The optical port SHOULD be plug and play. Make sure you’ve enabled it in the Apple TV settings. You stream to the Apple TV via AirPlay.
