I used my old MA-6100 as a preamp briefly. I also use my ancient marantz 1030 as preamp from time to time.. Those have much less power then the 5300. My 6100 could meet its spec easily, but didn’t have much after its 70wpc. Not so with the 5300.
At a minimum of 100wpc, why would anyone need a separate amp?
unless you went with a tube amp for a little different listening experience?
